When we began to envision setting up our show barn, we wanted a facility customized to fit our unique space and our unique needs. We wanted flexibility while maintaining a level of practicality and rugged construction that would allow us to utilize the space for our cattle operation long after the kids were done showing. Over the years we had purchased several round bale feeders from Livestock Equipment Specialists, so we were familiar with the quality of their work and how it held up in tough conditions. We brought Andy into the process early, and he was able to help provide some layout ideas that would turn our vision into a productive space. Their workmanship and materials were high quality, and since everything was custom built, any minor changes as we went were no issue thanks to their constant communication. I’d recommend a conversation with them to anyone looking to set up a custom steel-fabricated facility.

We purchased 3 of the 16’ hay feeders last summer. The process of working with the team at Livestock Equipment Specialists was exceptional as Andy had the right questions about our planned use and guided us throughout the process updating as they progressed in manufacturing. We are wrapping up our first winter with these and could not be happier about the ease of feeding hay to our cows without driving through mud and snow. We also see increased efficiency of consumption that was a pleasant added benefit. Our cows are cleaning up the hay more effectively and reducing waste. I would gladly buy more of these and likely will as we expand.

Before show barns became real popular in 2015, our show barn was a combination of gates and vertical bar gating. We were using chains and wire to keep things shut. After our county fair, a gate was not properly chained shut and injured one of our keeper gilts. Could have been any one of us not watching how we penned things up. I promised myself we would have a better set up before the spring of 2016. Andy came down and looked and measured our barn and we came up with a plan. This was his first show pig job and he designed the gating and slam latches which made it easy for any age kid to know if the gate was latched or not. We have a bid board sale each spring and everyone loved the setup. Andy designed 9 walkthrough gates with slam latches. When he delivered them i wondered if it would all fit together or if we would have things not squared up properly. It all fit like a glove. They were well built and that spring at our bid board sale our customers raved about our setup and design. Thanks to Livestock Equipment Specialists, we are still enjoying our show barn in 2024.

My 16’ Fence Line Bale Feeder has been great. It has saved me a bale of hay a week!

Livestock Equipment Specialists did the gate work and built us a bud box in a hog barn that we recently converted to house cattle. The first time we ran our cows through the new system, everything worked perfectly and our veterinarian was very happy!
